Oregon Surgical Wellness Welcomes
Breast Surgical Oncologist Sara B. Cartwright, DO

Dr. Cartwright brings advanced training in breast surgical oncology and a care philosophy shaped by her early career as a registered nurse.

EUGENE/SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Oct. 7, 2026 — Oregon Surgical Wellness (OSW), a division of Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center (WVCI), is pleased to welcome Sara B. Cartwright, DO, a board-certified general surgeon and fellowship-trained breast surgical oncologist. As part of WVCI’s multidisciplinary breast cancer team, she will provide specialized breast surgical care for patients in the southern Willamette Valley and surrounding communities.

Dr. Cartwright completed her Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the University of Southern California, following a General Surgery Residency and dedicated research training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She is board-certified in General Surgery and is an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology.

Before attending medical school, Dr. Cartwright worked as a critical care registered nurse. Her bedside experience gave her an early understanding of how patients and families experience medical care, which she brings to her work as a surgeon today.

“What I enjoy most about caring for breast surgical oncology patients is the opportunity to teach about breast cancer and the shared decision-making process,” Dr. Cartwright said. “I want my patients to understand their diagnosis and treatment plan so they can make a surgical decision they feel comfortable with.”

Dr. Cartwright has contributed to surgical and breast cancer research through peer-reviewed publications, national presentations and educational initiatives. Her work includes research on breast cancer treatment and surgical outcomes as well as surgical education.

“I’m excited to work alongside wonderful partners at OSW and be a part of the WVCI multidisciplinary team to bring specialized breast oncology care to the community,”

Dr. Cartwright said.

Dr. Cartwright will see patients at Oregon Surgical Wellness, 3783 International Court, Suite 200, Springfield, Oregon. To make an appointment, call 541-735-3778. Physicians may fax referrals to 541-735-3772.
