WSU Tri-Cities 'Community Classroom' presentation shares plans for clean energy in the region - 01/18/23

RICHLAND, WA – Washington State University Tri-Cities is hosting a presentation called Climate Justice: Future Plans for Clean Energy in Our Region, Feb. 8 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. The presentation is part of WSU Tri-Cities’ Community Classroom series on climate justice.

The presenters are Sandra Haynes, chancellor at WSU Tri-Cities and Jason Herbert, senior director for external strategy and new nuclear development at Energy Northwest.  Haynes will discuss plans for the WSU Tri-Cities Institute for Northwest Energy Futures, which recently received support from Governor Inslee, and Herbert will speak on the future of nuclear and renewable energy generation, specifically small modular reactor development in our region and state.

The presentation is open to the community and will be held in person in the East Auditorium on the WSU Tri-Cities campus at 2710 Crimson Way in Richland or virtually via Zoom. Registration is required. To register for the event visit https://tricities.wsu.edu/diversity/community-classroom-series/.

The Community Classroom series started in 2021 as a way to explore the concept of climate justice, which involves the ways in which climate change can have differing social, economic, public health and other impacts on underprivileged populations and communities. The events are presented in partnership with WSU Tri-Cities Offices of Student and Academic Affairs, WSU Tri-Cities Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and the WSU Tri-Cities MOSAIC Center for Student Inclusion.
