Volunteers to Assemble 600 Thanksgiving Food Baskets at Union Gospel Mission
Portland, Ore., -- Volunteers will be assembling 600 Thanksgiving food baskets on Saturday, November 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Union Gospel Mission. The Thanksgiving food baskets will be distributed later that day to families and individuals in need through a network of other nonprofits and churches, as well as at Union Gospel Mission.
The Thanksgiving food basket contains everything needed for a traditional meal such as vegetables, boxed stuffing, gravy mix, yams, dinner rolls and more. Each Thanksgiving basket includes a voucher for a turkey. In 2016, Anthony was one of the volunteers that packed Thanksgiving Food Baskets and shared his experience in this video: https://vimeo.com/241536874
The food and the turkey vouchers for the Thanksgiving baskets are provided by donors as part of Union Gospel Mission's annual "Paper Turkey" online fundraising campaign. Union Gospel Mission is raising funds for the Paper Turkey campaign through Friday, November 17. Donations can be made at ugmportland.org.
