What is civic love? It’s love for this place we call home, expressed by looking out for each other, connecting with our neighbors, volunteering for causes we care about, and honoring our differences as we celebrate our common bonds.

In 1997, psychologist Arthur Aron explored whether love between two perfect strangers could be accelerated by asking each other a set of 36 questions. The 36 Questions for Civic Love are adapted for a new kind of experiment—aimed at helping us all fall in civic love, and reconnect with our home and our neighbors. You and a partner will ask each other a series of 36 questions and listen to each other’s answers. It’s as simple as that. We hope you’ll join us to learn more about your community, yourself, and our connection to this wonderful place we call home.
