“A” grades from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are considered to be the gold standard measure of patient safety

VANCOUVER, Wash. – PeaceHealth medical centers have once again been awarded “A” grades from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades for spring 2024. PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, Washington, PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview, Washington, PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington, and PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield, Oregon were all recognized with “A” grades.

“I am immensely proud of the effort our caregivers, clinicians and medical staff put forth at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in ensuring the safest possible experience for our patients while they are under our care,” said Jim McGovern, MD, chief hospital executive for the PeaceHealth Oregon network. “This ‘A’ rating validates the consistent effort and dedication from our caregivers in how we treat the members of our community. It is a testament to the diligence of everyone here at RiverBend.”

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. It is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
