2-14-2022 Notice of Holiday Closure - Presidents' Day (Photo) - 02/14/22

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 14, 2022

*** NOTICE OF HOLIDAY CLOSURE ***

Presidents’ Day (Washington’s Birthday)

(Douglas County, Ore.) Douglas County Commissioners Tim Freeman, Chris Boice and Tom Kress would like to remind citizens that government offices in the Douglas County Courthouse, located at 1036 SE Douglas Avenue in Roseburg, as well as the Douglas County Justice Building, Douglas County Courthouse Annex in Reedsport, Douglas County Museum, Douglas County Landfill and Transfer Stations, Douglas County Fairgrounds and All External Douglas County Government Offices will be closed to the public on Monday, February 21, 2022, in observance of Presidents’ Day.

As always, even when Douglas County government offices are closed, many officials and public employees are still working.

Please note these exceptions:

  • The Umpqua River Lighthouse Museum will be open on Monday, February 21, 2022, for normal business hours.
  • All Douglas County operated parks, campgrounds and boat ramps will continue to be open and accessible to the public.  For reservation information at Douglas County operated campgrounds, please call (541) 957-7001 or online www.co.douglas.or.us/parks/.  As a reminder, the Douglas County Parks Office will be closed on Monday, February 21, 2022.
  • Even though the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office lobby entrance will be closed on Monday, February 21, 2022, our Sheriff’s Deputies, 911 communications and DCSO staff will continue to provide law enforcement protection and emergency assistance for our residents.  If you have an emergency, call 9-1-1.  If you need to reach dispatch for a non-emergency, call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number at (541) 440-4471.
  • The Douglas County Commissioners Tim Freeman, Chris Boice and Tom Kress, along with Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer, our Public Health Officer, and the staff at Douglas Public Health Network will continue to work on the COVID-19 response regardless of the holiday.

Washington's Birthday is a United States federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February, in accordance with the Uniform Federal Holidays Act of 1971, to honor of George Washington, the first President of the United States, who was born on February 22, 1732.   The day is now widely referred to as Presidents' Day, and is often an occasion to honor all who have served as president of the Untied States, not just George Washington.

The Douglas County Commissioners understand that some of our holidays will be decidedly different during the ongoing worldwide pandemic, but we hope you will join us in honoring this day, while continuing to make safe and healthy choices, and taking measures to protect those you love in order to keep Douglas County a wonderful place to live, work and play.
