(Douglas County, Ore.) The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office issued the following statement today, “On September 21, 2021, a Douglas County Grand Jury determined that the police shooting of John Kliestik on September 9, 2021, was a lawful and justified use of force in order to protect civilian and officer lives. The Grand Jury also indicted Kliestik for the crimes of Arson in the First Degree (2 counts), Attempted Murder in the Second Degree (2 counts), Attempted Murder in the First Degree (3 counts), Attempted Assault in the First Degree (5 counts), Assault in the Second Degree, Assaulting a Public Safety Officer, Menacing (2 counts), Recklessly Endangering Another Person (2 counts). Due to the ongoing criminal prosecution of Kliestik, no further information is being released at this time."
