The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office in consultation with Cloverdale Fire Protection District initiated Level 3 (Go Now!) Evacuation Notices in the areas south of Cascade Estates Dr, north of Hwy 20 and west of Fryrear Rd.  Notifications were made via the Deschutes Alerts Mass Notification System as well as door to door notifications by deputies, Black Butte Ranch Police officers, and Oregon State Police troopers.

Multiple fire agencies responded from around Central Oregon sending two structural protection task forces.  Central Oregon Fire Management Services (US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management) and Oregon Department of Forestry also assisted.  Several firefighting aircraft were utilized including a Very Large Air Tanker, Large Air Tankers, Single Engine Air Tankers, and water dropping helicopters.

Forward progress on the fire was stopped around 6:30 PM and the preliminary size estimate is approximately 130 acres.  Preliminary damage assessments found two residences lost and approximately 6 outbuildings.

The American Red Cross opened a shelter at Five Pines Lodge in Sisters for evacuees.  The Pet Evacuation Team is available to assist with animals as needed.  Several local residents also assisted with transporting large animals belonging to evacuees.

Current Evacuations:

Level 3 (Go Now!): All areas west of the 17900 Block of Cascade Estates Dr, Sunburst St, Ten Peaks Ct to Rabbitbrush Way.

Level 1 (Be Ready): All areas east of 17900 Block of Cascade Estates Dr, Sunburst St, Ten Peaks Ct to Fryrear Rd.

Oregon Department of Transportation is assisting traffic through the area on Hwy 20 with pilot cars.  The highway had been closed for approximately four hours.  Drivers are asked to use extreme caution when traveling through the area as fire operations will continue tonight and tomorrow.
