**Updated**DCSO Investigating Attempted Robbery in La Pine (Photo) - 03/20/18

Within an hour of asking the public to help us with information in this case, we began receiving tips through our social media platforms. Based on those tips, we identified the suspect in the attempted robbery as 31 year old Jason L Reed of Newberg, Oregon. This morning, Reed was taken into custody by the Salem Police Department.

We would like to thank the public for their assistance. Reed's charges for the attempted robbery in Deschutes County are pending.

Location: Dairy Queen; 52505 Hwy 97 N, La Pine, OR 97739

NARRATIVE:

On March 19, 2018 at 5:07 pm, deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a robbery attempt at the Dairy Queen in La Pine. The male left Dairy Queen before law enforcement arrived and was last seen driving southbound on Highway 97.

An investigation at the scene determined the suspect male entered into Dairy Queen and asked the cashier to open the cash register. The male acted as though he had a weapon, but no weapon was seen during the robbery attempt. The cashier refused to open the cash register, so he left.

The male is described as an adult white male, approximately 5'10" and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a brown sweatshirt and blue jeans. He was described as having short, dark colored hair, a trimmed beard, and dark framed glasses. He left in a silver Chevy Traverse LS with Oregon license plates.
