CORRECTION AND UPDATE: The Colorado Springs School District 11 and Holmes Middle School to Hold USAF Helicopter Landing Event - 03/28/24

The Colorado Springs School District 11 and Holmes Middle School announce an exciting event in collaboration with the United States Air Force. On Monday, April 1st, 2024, a United States Air Force helicopter will be making a special landing at Holmes Middle School, offering an unparalleled educational opportunity for students and the community.

The helicopter landing, scheduled to take place on the Holmes football field, will occur around 9:50 am. This event was made possible with the assistance of Capt. Andre Young, a distinguished D11 graduate of Holmes Middle School, Coronado High School, and the United States Air Force Academy. Capt. Young's mother serves as the English Language Learner (ELL) Paraprofessional at Holmes Middle School.

Following the landing, the helicopter will be on static display until approximately 2:45 pm, allowing students and visitors to get a closer look and learn more about its features. Capt. Young, along with two other USAF personnel, will be present to engage with students, answer questions, and provide insights into aircraft and military life, fostering a deeper understanding of aviation and inspiring potential future careers.
