NARRATIVE:

On December 12, 2019, at approximately 7:36am, a deputy with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a purple 1996 Ford Probe in the area of NW Canal Blvd. and NE Oneil Way, NE of Redmond, for failing to display a front license plate and expired registration.  The driver of the Probe failed to stop and the deputy initiated a pursuit on the vehicle.  Early in the pursuit, the right rear tire of the suspect’s vehicle failed and the vehicle was being driven on three tires and a rim.  The pursuit continued toward the northeast, away from Redmond, at speeds ranging from 40 – 65 MPH, with a max speed of 78 MPH.

Additional deputies responded to the area to assist with establishing a perimeter and setting up spike strips.  Approximately fourteen minutes into the pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle lost the other rear tire and the driver lost control and ended up in the ditch near the area of Smith Rock Way and Lone Pine Road.   Deputies then took the driver, Kent A. Vannorsdall, into custody.  Vannorsdall was subsequently transported to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Adult Jail and lodged on the above listed charges.
