The FlashAlert system gives you access to emergency messages, such as breaking news or snow closure information, and news releases from participating organizations.

Each organization has a page where you can view their information; monitor changes (the page auto-refreshes every half hour and can alert you if it finds new info); and an RSS version of the page that many web browsers, RSS reader programs and even Outlook can monitor and pull in new information.

In addition, some organizations have opted to enable the public to subscribe to the messages they post, receiving the information as emails and/or cell phone text messages. There is no cost to the public for viewing the information or subscribing to messages, but be aware that since the emails and text messages travel the Internet, they may be delayed or deleted by various spam filters and cell phone carriers along the way.
