The FlashAlert system gives you access to emergency messages, such as breaking news or weather closure information, and news releases from participating organizations.
Each member organization has a web page where you can view their information and monitor changes (the page auto-refreshes every half hour and can alert you if it finds new info) and an RSS version of the page that many web browsers, mail programs and Outlook can monitor and pull in new information.
In addition, some organizations have opted to enable the public to subscribe to the messages they post, receiving the information as emails, "push notifications" through a free phone app, cell phone text messages or Twitter. There is no cost to the public for viewing the information or subscribing to messages if offered.
