K9 Track Leads To Arrest After Driver Eludes In Vehicle - 08/31/26

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at about 2:40 a.m., a Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop a black sedan on Highway 26 near NW Jackson School Road for speeds exceeding 100 mph, but the driver eluded eastbound. Within minutes, another deputy reported seeing a vehicle matching the description heading south on SW 185th Avenue and attempted to stop it. The driver again attempted to elude.

Deputies responding to the area saw the vehicle, a stolen black 2015 BMW 335, turn onto SW 188th Court and drive into an apartment complex. Deputies found the vehicle and saw three people running from it.

Deputies contained the area and requested a K9 team to respond. Corporal Terry and K9 Griff began tracking, first locating two passengers on a nearby porch. K9 Griff continued tracking towards a marshy wooded area where the third suspect ran into.

K9 Griff found the third suspect hiding about 20 feet up in a tree, and a drone was used to pinpoint the exact location. After about 45 minutes, the driver agreed to come down from the tree and was taken into custody.

The driver, 21-year-old Cairo Truth of Portland, was arrested for attempting to elude, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, reckless endangering, and possession of a stolen vehicle. Both 19-year-old passengers, Davian Delgadillo and Iris Cisneros-Martinez of Hillsboro, were issued citations for their involvement in the incident and released.
