Man Charged In Woman's Murder Lodged In Jail (Photo) -10/05/21
On September 11, 2021, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies serving the City of Cornelius responded to a domestic disturbance call near the intersection of North Davis Street and North 14th Avenue in Cornelius. Officers from the Forest Grove Police Department also responded. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a woman, identified as Sonia Bahena, had been fatally stabbed. A man, identified as Jose Rodolpho Torres-Amaro was also found to have life-threatening wounds. Both were found outside the residence.
Detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit and members of the Washington County Major Crimes Team responded to investigate. At the time of the incident, there was no danger to the public.
On October 4, 2021, Torres-Amaro was discharged from a local hospital and lodged in the Washington County Jail on charges of murder in the second degree for stabbing Sonia Bahena.

The Washington County Major Crimes Team is made up of detectives from law enforcement agencies throughout the county and is coordinated by the Washington County District Attorney's Office. The team responds to major crimes that occur in Washington County.
