On Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting at an apartment complex located in the 4300 block of SW Mueller Drive near the City of Beaverton. Deputies located a man who had been shot in the arm following an argument with another man suspected of trying to steal his car.
The suspect had fired multiple shots before leaving the location. No other residents were hurt. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. After searching the area for about an hour, deputies, with the help of the Beaverton Police Department, located a suspect matching the description given by witnesses.
Deputies arrested 21-year-old Jontay Joseph Cox of Richland, Washington on the following charges:
Mr. Cox was lodged at the Washington County Jail with a bail of $25,000.
