On Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 11:49 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a car crash in the 6600 block of SW River Road south of Hillsboro. When deputies arrived with emergency medical crews, they found a man driving a 1990 Nissan 240SX had gone off the road about 20 feet and crashed into a tree.
The driver, 21-year-old Josue Sanabria of Aloha, was the only person in the car at the time of the crash. Mr. Sanabria was trapped in the car and was pronounced deceased at the scene despite life-saving efforts by the first responders.
The inter-agency Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team responded to help investigate the crash and determined speed was a major factor.
The Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) is a multi-agency team of specially trained law enforcement officers from the Sheriff’s Office, local police departments and the Washington County District Attorney’s Office. The team investigates and reconstructs traffic crashes that may result in the prosecution of felony assault or manslaughter charges, or involve fatalities. The team also helps diagram crime scenes.
