Beginning in May 2020, detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit began investigating allegations that a former softball coach was involved in luring underage girls.

Detectives learned 45-year-old Miguel Zepeda, of Sherwood, engaged in illegal text conversations with a teen girl. On November 6, 2020, detectives arrested Mr. Zepeda on a warrant for two counts of luring a minor and one count of attempting to use a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct. Mr. Zepeda was booked into jail where he posted bail and was released pending a future court date.

The investigation showed Mr. Zepeda coached softball teams in Eugene at least as far back as 2015, and the Eugene Police Department is assisting in this case. Detectives believe there are additional victims, including in the Portland metro area.

If you have information about Mr. Zepeda or additional victims, please call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 503-846-2700.
