News Release
Update #2: Search of School Completed, Nothing Suspicious Located - 11/30/18

Deputies completed a full search of Stoller Middle School at 4:41 p.m. today. They subsequently conducted a secondary search and nothing suspicious was located.

The decision to search room by room was a direct result of the contents in the email received. Based on what was sent, deputies were concerned that a possible suspect was already inside the building and planning to do harm.

Investigators will be working closely with the Beaverton School District and their information technology department over the coming days to examine the possible origin of the email.

Deputies Investigating Threats Made Towards Stoller Middle School

November 30, 2018 at 2:17 p.m. - On Friday, November, 2018, at 12:19 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to investigate an emailed threat made towards Stoller Middle School, which is located at 14141 Northwest Laidlaw Road in the Bethany community.

Deputies learned that shortly after noon, multiple Beaverton School District administrators received an email threatening violence at the school. It is unclear at this time where the email was sent from, but deputies are working closely with the Beaverton School District to determine that.

At 12:20 p.m., Stoller Middle School was placed on lockdown status and multiple deputies responded to ensure the safety of all staff and students. Nearby Jacob Wismer Elementary School was placed on lockout status shortly after.

No suspicious activity or objects have been found at the school. There are no reports of injuries at this time. Deputies are methodically going room by room locating staff and students.

Parents are asked NOT to respond to the school at this time. When the situation has been deemed safe, the Beaverton School District will conduct a controlled release of the school.
