Man in Van Attempts to Grab Teenage Girl in Aloha - 02/13/18

February 13, 2018 -- Early this morning, a man in a white work van attempted to grab a teenage girl as she walked home in Aloha.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 1:21 a.m., deputies were dispatched to SW 185th Avenue and SW Farmington Road in Aloha after a teenage girl reported that two men in a white work van followed her as she walked home from the Albertsons store.

She described one man as being a Caucasian male in his early to mid-twenties, with blond hair and blue eyes. The other man was described only as a dark-skinned male. The men offered the girl cigarettes and marijuana, which she declined. They followed her in the van as she continued walking. At one point, the van pulled close to her and one of the men reached out to grab her. She was able to run home and call 911.

At this time, it is unknown whether this incident is related to similar incidents reported in the city of Tigard on January 3rd and January 11th. Those incidents also involve a similar vehicle.

Deputies remind the public -- particularly juveniles -- to take the following safety precautions when walking:
* Walk in groups;
* Carry a cell phone to be able to call for help;
* Wear bright or reflective clothing;
* Maintain a safe distance from cars;
* Do not approach strangers in vehicles;
* Report suspicious activity immediately to 911;

If the public has any information on this incident, including relevant surveillance video, they are asked to call non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111.

The girl's mother is willing to speak to members of the media.
