Officers from Portland Police and the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Transit Police Division (MCSO TPD) collaborated on an effort to address public drug abuse in the Hazelwood Neighborhood
On Wednesday, October 2, 2024 Portland Police Bureau's East Precinct and East Precinct Neighborhood Response Team combined efforts with MCSO TPD targeting open drug use, specifically the suppliers, in the areas of East Burnside Street at Northeast 122nd Avenue and Northeast 148th Avenue, as well as the Gateway Transit Center at Northeast 99th Avenue and Northeast Pacific Street.
PPB has received many concerns from the community about open air drug use in those areas and have seen drug suppliers targeting people suffering from addiction. PPB is committed to working those areas as we know people suffering from addiction leverage multiple services at these locations with the goal of recovery. Not only can drug dealing here have a devastating impact on those working on recovery, but also surrounding communities and businesses.
The combined results are impressive given the small team footprint:
18- Custodies
2- Felony Warrants
17 - Misdemeanor Warrants
19- Vehicle Stops
28 - Subject Stops
1 - Vehicle Towed
1 - Recovered Stolen Bike ($2000 value)
Drugs Seized:
1,444 grams - Fentanyl
33 grams - Heroin
1000 - Blue Fentanyl Pills
PPB thanks MCSO TPD for the collaboration. We will continue to partner with surrounding agencies and continue to work these areas in our community.
