UPDATE: Victims Killed in Shooting at Boat Ramp Identified - 07/23/24

The two people killed in a shooting at the M. James Gleason Memorial Boat Ramp on July 13, 2024, have been identified as Jmeire Asher, 18, of Portland, and Deangelo Augustus, 38, of Salem. Their families have been notified of their deaths and they are requesting privacy at this time.

The Medical Examiner determined Asher and Augustus died of homicide by gunshot wound.

Two males were killed after a shooting near the Broughton Beach area off Northeast Marine Drive.

On Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 7:50 p.m., North Precinct and Focused Intervention Team officers responded to a report of shots heard at the M. James Gleason Memorial Boat Ramp at 4325 Northeast Marine Drive. When officers arrived, they located two males deceased at the scene.

The suspect or suspects left the scene before police were called and no immediate arrests were made.

Detectives with the Portland Police Homicide Unit are responding to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, Northeast Marine Drive is closed both directions between Northeast 33rd Avenue and Northeast 122nd Avenue.

Detectives believe witnesses and others with information may have left the scene before police arrived.
