Man Killed in Shooting in the Madison South Neighborhood Identified (Photo) - 07/09/24

The man killed in a shooting in the Madison South neighborhood on July 6, 2024, has been identified as Donte Eugene Mathis 25, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death. They are requesting privacy at this time, but they provided the attached photo for public release.

The Medical Examiner determined Mathis died of homicide by gunshot wound.

A man is deceased after a shooting in the Madison South Neighborhood.

On Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11:48p.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of a man shot in the 3600 block of Northeast 82nd Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a man deceased in a motel parking lot.

The suspect or suspects left the scene before police were called and no immediate arrests were made.

Detectives with the Portland Police Homicide Unit are responding to investigate. During the investigation, Northeast 82nd Avenue is closed between Northeast Milton Street and Northeast Beech Street.
