A homicide investigation is underway after a shooting in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood that left a man dead, and a teenage boy critically injured.
On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 11:56 p.m., officers from the East Precinct responded to a shooting in the 5700 block of Southeast 130th Place. When officers arrived, they found two victims who had been shot while sitting inside of a vehicle. One of the victims, an adult male, died at the scene. Officers provided trauma first aid to the other victim, a teenage boy, until paramedics arrived and transported him to an area hospital in critical condition.
