Man Killed in Old Town Neighborhood Shooting Identified - 11/17/23

The victim in the October 7, 2023 homicide in the Old Town Neighborhood is identified as Elimu Nyoka Jackson, 20. His family has been notified of his death and they are asking for privacy.

The Medical Examiner determined that Jackson died of homicide by gunshot wound.

Two other people injured in the shooting were treated at the hospital and released.

One man is deceased, 2 others are injured in a shooting in the Old Town Neighborhood.

On Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 12:47a.m., Central Precinct Entertainment Detail Officers were patrolling in Old Town when they heard gunshots at Northwest 4th Avenue and Northwest Everett Street. They responded immediately and found an adult male victim. They requested EMS, but the victim was deceased at the scene. Central Precinct Patrol Officers also responded to assist with the investigation. Officers were unable to immediately locate a suspect.

A short time later, officers were notified that two additional adult male victims had arrived at separate hospitals by private vehicle. They are being treated and their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Portland Police Homicide Unit Detectives responded to the scene with the Forensic Evidence Division, the Medical Examiner, and the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office. Focused Intervention Team officers are also assisting. During the investigation, the streets around Northwest 4th Avenue and Northwest Everett Street are closed.
