A shooting and fatal crash in the Mill Park Neighborhood has the Major Crash Team (MCT), the Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST), and the Focused Intervention Team (FIT) investigating.

On Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 10:19p.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of a crash at Southeast 102nd Avenue and Southeast Washington Street. When officers arrived they found two vehicles involved and one rolled over. One of the drivers also had a gunshot wound. An occupant from the other vehicle had serious life-threatening injuries, and officers performed CPR at the scene.

Two people were transported to the hospital by ambulance. The person with the gunshot wound was one of them, and is being treated at the hospital. The other person transported, a passenger in the other vehicle, died at the hospital.

The Portland Police Traffic Division MCT is investigating along with ECST and FIT. At this time it is not believed that the shooting happened at the crash location. No arrests have been made.

During the investigation, Southeast 102nd Avenue is closed between Southeast Pine Street and Southeast Washington Street. Southeast Stark Street and Southeast Washington Street are closed from Southeast 100th Avenue to Southeast 103rd Drive.

If anyone has information about this shooting or the crash, please e-mail crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 23-179745.

This is the 34th crash related fatality of 2023 in Portland and the 6th in the last 16 days.
