UPDATE: Driver Killed in Southeast Portland Fatal Crash Identified - 01/19/23

The driver who was killed in the January 15th crash on Southeast Powell Boulevard is identified as Tyler L. David, 44, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. David was driving a 1999 Ford Escort pulling out of a parking lot onto Southeast Powell Boulevard when his vehicle was struck broadside by a westbound 1994 Chevrolet 2500 pickup driven by a 17-year-old male. That driver was not charged or cited. The investigation is continuing.

This was the 3rd fatal traffic crash this year in Portland.

On Sunday, January 15, 2023, at 9:33 a.m., officers from the East Precinct were dispatched to a crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Southeast 80th Avenue and Southeast Powell Boulevard. When officers arrived they found the driver of one of those vehicles deceased. The driver of the other involved vehicle remained at the scene.

The Portland Police Bureau’s Major Crash Team (MCT) is responding to take over the investigation. While the MCT conducts this investigation, Southeast Powell Boulevard will be closed from Southeast 82nd Avenue to Southeast 79th Avenue.
