Shooting Becomes Car Pursuit, Suspect Arrested, "Ghost" Gun seized (Photo) - 06/04/21

A man is facing charges after a shooting and vehicle pursuit that led to the discovery of an unserialized "ghost" handgun.

On Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 11:04p.m., East Precinct officers responded to multiple calls of shots heard in the area of the 100 block of Southeast 129th Avenue. A suspect vehicle seen driving away from the scene, a blue 2000 Jaguar XK8, was located and officers initiated a stop. The driver of the vehicle attempted to elude. Officers pursued the driver, attempting pursuit intervention techniques. The driver crashed into a parked vehicle near Southeast Division Street and Southeast 136th Avenue, then tried to drive off again. Officers used patrol vehicles to surround the car and stop it (photo). The driver, Jerray A. Brown, 40, of Portland, was arrested. An unserialized "ghost gun" was located in his vehicle (photo). The gun was seized as evidence.

Brown was transported to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries related to the crash, then booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm (2 counts), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2 counts), Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Public (city code-2 counts), Discharge of a Firearm in the city (city code), Attempting to Elude by Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver-Property Damage, and Reckless Endangering (2 counts).

There were no known injuries related to the shooting.
