PPB Responds to Man with Gun Call Downtown, Recovered Gun Was Not Real - 04/23/21

On April 23, 2021, at 6:57 a.m., officers from the Central Precinct responded the 100 block of W. Burnside on reports of an adult male who had flashed a pistol. Officers were told, during their response, that the subject was sitting down with the gun in his lap and was also playing with it. Officers also learned the subject’s name while responding and found that he had a felony warrant for his arrest.

Officers arrived in the area and observed the subject, who was now lying down. The officers developed a plan to contact the subject. They used a patrol vehicle to drive closer to the subject and gave him commands over the vehicle’s Public Address (PA) system.

Officers were able to take the subject safely into custody. A black pistol was recovered that turned out to not be a real firearm. The subject, 34 year-old Christopher John Carroll, was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center and lodged on the warrant.
