News Release
(Update) Major Crash Team Activation in North Portland - fatal crash investigation - correction - 04/19/21

This morning officers responded to the report of a crash on North Marine Drive at about 12:51 a.m. An earlier release listed the time incorrectly.
One person riding a motorcycle died and will be identified later, pending notification of family.

Investigators believe speed was likely a factor in this crash, and that both vehicles involved may have been involved in speed racing.

19-year-old Raphael Andres Orozco, of Portland, was driving a Mercedes sedan at the time of the collision. Mr. Orozco was cited for Reckless Driving. This case remains under investigation.

This was the 23rd activation of the Major Crash Team, and the 21st fatal crash in Portland in 2021.

Anyone with information about this crash can contact Officer Phillip Maynard Phillip.Maynard@portlandoregon.gov 503-823-2216 or Sgt. Ty Engstrom Ty.Engstrom@portlandoregon.gov 503-823-2224.

An earlier release had an incorrect phone number.
