Update: Arrest Made in Homicide from Downtown Hotel Shooting - 10/15/20

On October 8th, 2020, Homicide Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau obtained an arrest warrant for 22 year-old Abdikadir Osman for the crimes of Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon related to the homicide of Shawn Fujioka.

On October 15th, 2020, members of the Portland Police Bureau's Detective Division, Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT), and US Marshals Fugitive Taskforce located and arrested Osman in the 3600 block of SE 28th Avenue.

A short time later, Detectives, with the assistance of SERT and the Bureau's Crisis Negotiation Team, served a search warrant in the 8400 block of Southeast 77th Ave related to the investigation.

Osman was lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 6, 2020, Officers from Central precinct responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of Southwest Naito Parkway where they found an adult male, injured from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital and later died.

The victim has been identified as 23 year-old Shawn Fujioka from southwest Washington. The family has been notified and provided the attached photograph for release.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound and the manner has been ruled a homicide.

There is no suspect information at this time.

This is the 40th homicide this year and the 37th since June 11th.

A victim was injured in a shooting Tuesday morning in a Downtown Portland hotel room.

On Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 12:59a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to a report of a shooting in a hotel in the 1400 block of Southwest Naito Parkway. Officers arrived and located a male with an injury consistent with gunfire. The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. His prognosis is unknown.

There is no suspect information at this time. Officers have closed off parts of the hotel during the investigation. Investigators are processing evidence and it will likely be some time before there will be an update.
