###FIRST UPDATE###

An impaired driver was arrested after a crash resulted in the death of a pedestrian in the Buckman neighborhood Friday evening.

The Portland Police Traffic Division's Major Crash Team has determined that at about 6:43p.m., a 2017 Subaru Forester was going southbound on Northeast 18th Avenue and drove through a stop sign without stopping. It pulled in front of a 2016 Toyota Tacoma going eastbound on East Burnside Street, causing the Toyota to strike the Subaru on the passenger side. The impact pushed the Subaru up onto the Southeast sidewalk where an adult male pedestrian was walking. The Subaru pinned the pedestrian up against a building.

The pedestrian was transported to a hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced deceased. His name is not being released at this time.

Investigators determined that the Subaru was driven by Aidan S. Moran, 18, who showed signs of impairment. He was arrested and subsequently an Intoxilyzer breath test determined he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.12%, over the legal limit of 0.08%. Moran was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving, and three counts of Reckless Endangerment. Two passengers in the Subaru left the scene of the crash, but one later returned and was interviewed.

This is the 35th fatal crash of 2020 in Portland.
