This morning a person in the traffic lanes of Interstate 5, southbound, on the Interstate Bridge was struck and killed by a motor vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stopped and cooperated with investigators. There were no arrests or citations.

This matter is under investigation by the Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team and the investigation is ongoing.

On Friday, September 11, 2020, at about 7:51 a.m. Portland Police responded to a pedestrian struck on Interstate 5 south, mid-span on the Interstate Bridge. The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team is responding.
I-5 south is shut down from the bridge to the Expo Center. Bridge traffic is being diverted to Jantzen Beach. These traffic delays are expected to continue for about another hour.
There is no information to release about anyone's condition, however, Portland Police will release additional information about this collision when it is available.
