News Release
Updated: Shooting in East Portland Leaves Juvenile Injured - 07/08/20

Correction: The original release indicated 45 casings were located. It was later learned that was the caliber of one of the casings, not the number of casings located. The release has been updated to reflect this change. We regret the error.

Updated release below:

On July 8, 2020, at 10:27 p.m., East Precinct Officers responded to numerous reports of shots heard near Southeast 148th Avenue just South of E Burnside Street. One caller reported being injured by gunfire.

Officers arrived and located a 16 year-old male with a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and the juvenile was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

Officers located spent bullet cartridges of different calibers in the area. Preliminary information suggests this involved subjects are known to each other and there is not an identified on-going risk to the community.

This is an active investigation. If anyone has information, contact (503) 823-3333.
