Firearm Recovered After Vehicle Eluded Officers, Investigation Continues (Photo) -02/28/20

On Thursday, February 27, 2020, at 00:38 a.m., members of the Gun Violence Reduction Team (GVRT) were conducting directed patrols in the Lents neighborhood due to the high number of gun violence incidents and past firearm recoveries in the area. GVRT officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Southeast 108 Avenue and Southeast Harold Street. The driver of the unplated vehicle refused to stop and eluded officers in the vehicle through residential neighborhoods at a high rate of speed. East Precinct officers attempted to use intervention strategies to stop the vehicle but those strategies were not successful. The vehicle was ultimately found unoccupied near Southeast 99 Avenue and Southeast Ramona Street. The driver of the vehicle was not located after an area search. During the investigation, a loaded .22 caliber revolver was located inside vehicle. The investigation continues into the driver and the firearm that was recovered. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Tactical Operations Division at 503-823-4106. The Gun Violence Reduction Team is continuing to investigate several incidents of gun violence citywide.
