GVRT Investigates Occupied Car Struck By Gunfire - 02/09/20

The Gun Violence Reduction Team (GVRT) is investigating a shooting where a car was hit by gunfire from another vehicle as it drove in the Hazelwood neighborhood.

On Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 12:30a.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle shot at by a suspect in another vehicle. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect. Officers met the victim nearby and confirmed that he was unhurt. He said he was the only one in the vehicle at the time.

The victim reported that as he was merging onto northbound I-205 from Southeast Division Street, a suspect vehicle pulled up alongside him and fired multiple rounds. The suspect or suspects drove away. We are not releasing a description at this time.

Officers discovered multiple bullet strikes to the victim's vehicle. No photos are available. GVRT responded to the scene and has assumed primary responsibility for the case.
