UPDATE: Photos Of Vehicles Struck By Gunfire In Sumner Neighborhood (Photo) -01/25/20

This update adds photos of the two vehicles struck by gunfire, including one where the driver was grazed by a bullet that pierced her seat. The two other involved vehicles have not been located at this time. ### PPB ### ### ORIGINAL MESSAGE BELOW ### Two occupied vehicles were struck by gunfire while stopped at a traffic light in the Sumner Neighborhood. On Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 2:56a.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of shots in the area of Northeast Killingsworth Street and Northeast Columbia Parkway. When officers arrived they learned that two occupied cars were stopped at the traffic light waiting to turn onto westbound Killingworth Street when two other cars pulled up. Someone from at least one of the other cars started shooting, and the two unrelated vehicles were struck by bullets. One of the bullets grazed the adult female driver of one of the vehicles. She was evaluated by paramedics but was not injured. There were no injuries in the other car. The two involved vehicles left the scene eastbound on Killingsworth Street. At this time it's unknown if anyone was injured in either of the involved vehicles. Northeast Columbia Parkway is closed between Northeast Killingsworth Street and Northeast 82nd Avenue. Northeast Killingsworth Street is closed between I-205 and Northeast Columbia Parkway. The Gun Violence Reduction Team (GVRT) is responding to lead the investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Police Nonemergency Line at 503-823-3333. The Gun Violence Reduction Team is continuing to investigate several incidents of gun violence citywide. Information learned from social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube should be shared with investigators as these tips may lead to the identification of a suspect or suspects.
