Tactical Operation Division officers have been conducting focused patrols in the city due to several shootings and firearm recoveries in the past few months. On Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 12:53 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop of car without a license plate in the 9400 block of Southeast Raymond Street.

During the traffic investigation, a passenger was found to be in possession of a handgun.

Another passenger, 18-year-old Hassan Smith, was also arrested for a probation violation.

Both suspects were transported and lodged into the Multnomah County Detention Center.
