Traffic Stop Yields Drug, Cash, and Gun (Photo) - 09/06/19

A traffic stop by Portland Police East Precinct's Street Crimes Unit (SCU) yielded a large amount of money, drugs, and a gun.

On Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 9:08 a.m., two officers initiated a traffic stop at Southeast 92nd Avenue and Southeast Stark Street. After developing probable cause to arrest the driver, the officers attempted to place him into handcuffs. He began fighting, finally pushing an officer and running away on foot. He was soon taken into custody after a scuffle.

In the vehicle, the officers located a loaded handgun and extra magazines, over 3 pounds of methamphetamine, 3 ounces of heroin, and over $11,000 in cash. The gun was located near the driver's seat but the suspect did not draw it on officers. The items (photos) were seized as evidence.

The suspect, Aaron Key III, 28 (photo), of Portland, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on a federal law enforcement hold, with further criminal charges pending.
