UPDATE #3: #ALERT: Partial SERT Activation (Photo) - 05/16/19

The suspect arrested yesterday afternoon was 33-year-old Tyler S. Hunt. He was wanted on numerous felony warrants when police tried to contact him. He then eluded officers in a vehicle that he had carjacked and fled on foot after striking at least four cars, one being a police car.

After Mr. Hunt was arrested inside the perimeter, he was lodged into the Multnomah County Detention Center on 19 criminal counts and 4 outstanding warrants. Some of the 19 criminal counts and warrant charges included burglary, identity theft, robbery, assault and felon in possession of a firearm.

###UPDATE #2 MESSAGE BELOW###
As officers were clearing the scene, one officer noticed a residence that had been burglarized. Officers made entry in that house and located the wanted suspect. There were no residents inside the house at the time. The suspect was arrested without further incident.

Additional details will be pushed out at a later time once the preliminary investigation is complete.

The suspect in this incident was not found. Officers are clearing the perimeter and streets are opening back up. There is not a known risk to the public with the suspect not being captured.

###ORIGINAL MESSAGE BELOW###
On duty members of the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) are responding to the 3100 Block of Southeast Powell Boulevard to assist Central and East Precinct officers locate a wanted and possibly armed suspect who rammed numerous vehicles including a police car. An active perimeter is now established and community members should stay away from the mentioned area.

No additional information is available at this time. An updated news release will be pushed out as investigators learn more.

The PIO is not responding at the time.
