PPB Statement Following Release of Grand Jury Transcripts - 05/09/19

The Multnomah County District Attorney released the transcripts today regarding the officer-involved shooting of Andre Gladen on January 6, 2019. The transcripts include the interview of Officer Consider Vosu, who testified that it was his knife that was involved.

"Following all officer-involved shootings, the Police Bureau makes every attempt to be as transparent as possible, without jeopardizing the investigation and Grand Jury process," said Chief Danielle Outlaw. "Early on, Detectives suspected it was the officer's knife; however, they were unable to confirm it prior to the Grand Jury. These transcripts provide additional information as to what occurred and we will now move forward in our process, which includes a training and internal review."

To assist with understanding the review process, the Police Bureau has released a graphic that depicts the flow of information and each step. https://www.portlandoregon.gov/police/article/714845
