PPB Sunshine Division & Winterhawks Team Up to Shop with a Hawk (Photo) - 11/07/18

On Wednesday, November 7, 2018, the Portland Winterhawks and the Sunshine Division are teaming up to take 24 students from Chief Joseph Elementary for a unique shopping experience with the Portland Winterhawks, thanks to funding provided by the Winterhawks Booster Club.

The participating children, referred through the partnership between School Resource Officers and the Sunshine Division, will have a very special opportunity to "Shop With A Hawk", as Winterhawks players shop one-on-one for toys and/or clothing with the students at the Interstate Fred Meyer store.

Each child will have $100 to spend thanks to the generosity of the team's Booster Club, who is funding the event.

Media are invited to attend; below are the details:

Who: Portland Winterhawks Players and Booster Club, Portland Police Bureau Sunshine Division, and Chief Joseph Elementary School students
What: Shop-With-A-Hawk, with Winterhawks players shopping for toys or clothing with students from the Portland Public School District
Where: Interstate Fred Meyer at 7404 N Interstate Avenue, Portland, OR 97217
When: 4:00p.m. -- 5:30 p.m.

About the Sunshine Division:
Since 1923 the Sunshine Division has been providing emergency food and clothing relief to Portland families and individuals in need. An independent charity in unique partnership with the Portland Police Bureau, Sunshine Division operates year-round, and serves Portland's most vulnerable populations: families with children, seniors, the disabled, and veterans as they face economic challenges to meet basic needs. In addition to the over 15,000 households served directly through their doors each year, Sunshine Division donates food to over 20+ food-relief charities in five surrounding counties. The Sunshine Division distributes new and gently-used clothing through their Threadz clothing room and new clothing through the Izzy's Kids "Shop With a Cop" program, which pairs police officers with low-income students for a school clothes shopping trip.
