Shooting Investigation Early Saturday Morning in Portland's Montavilla Neighborhood -- No Known Injuries - 11/03/18

On Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 2:36 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of Southeast 88th Avenue on the report of a disturbance involving gunfire.

Officers arrived at the scene and contacted multiple people with information about a disturbance. During the initial investigation there were no reports of injuries that required anyone be transported to an area hospital as a result of this incident.

As officers continued the investigation, a community member contacted the Bureau of Emergency Communication. The community member reported he had been present at the time of the disturbance in the 700 block of Southeast 88th Avenue and drove out of the area after the incident. The caller reported his vehicle he was driving was damaged by gunfire during the incident. Officers met the caller and inspected his vehicle. Officers located damage to the vehicle believed to have been caused by gunfire.

During a canvas of the area in the 700 block of Southeast 88th Avenue officers did not locate evidence of gunfire.

Preliminary information suggests there was a disturbance between two groups in the 700 block of Southeast 88th Avenue. During the disturbance both groups report they heard gunfire. This investigation is on-going and at this time there is no additional information to provide the public.

There are no reports of anyone arriving at area hospitals suffering injuries as a result of this shooting.

Based on preliminary information, the Gun Violence Response Team responded to assume the investigation. Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division have also responded to assist with this investigation.

Anyone who witnessed this shooting or who possesses video surveillance footage of the shooting is asked to contact Portland Police Bureau Tactical Operations Division Gun Violence Response Team at 503-823-4106.
