UPDATE #2- Shooting Investigation Underway in North Portland - One Person Deceased - 10/20/18

The victim in Friday morning's shooting died on Saturday morning at a Portland hospital. He has been identified as 42-year-old Armond Ramoan Harper of North Portland.

There is no new suspect information in this case and Homicide detectives are asking for the public's help.

The victim in this morning's shooting is alive and is on life support. Due to a miscommunication, the Bureau reported earlier that the victim was deceased.

The Bureau regrets the error and will provide updates as soon as they are available.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this morning's shooting in North Portland. The victim, a male in his 40s, is on life support at a Portland area hospital.

On Friday October 19, 2018, at 9:58 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting at North Rosa Parks Way and North Albina Avenue.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Passersby were providing medical aid to the victim prior to police and EMS arrival. The victim was transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital for treatment to life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary information indicates that the suspect is a Black male in his 20s, medium build, wearing gray or black clothing, and that he ran out of the area, last seen running northbound on North Mississippi Avenue. There are no indications that the suspect has remained in the neighborhood.

Detectives are responding to the scene to begin an investigation.

Traffic within a one block radius of the scene is blocked due to the ongoing investigation. Interested media may stage on North Albina Avenue, to the North of Rosa Parks Way.

The Acting Public Information Officer (PIO) is responding to the scene, ETA 45 minutes.
