Shooting Investigation Underway in Portland's Hayden Island Neighborhood -- One Person Injured - 10/11/18

On Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 9:00 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the Rodeway Inn Hayden Island, located at 1401 North Hayden Island Drive, on the report a person had been shot.

Officers arrived and located an adult male in the northeast parking lot of the Roadway Inn Hayden Island property with what was believed to be a gunshot injury. Responding officers provided the victim emergency first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived on scene. When emergency medical responders arrived, they provided the victim medical aid and transported the victim to an area hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

At this time in the investigation, officers have not located any suspects believed to be involved with this shooting. During a canvas of the area, officers located evidence of gunfire.

Based on information gathered at this time in the investigation, officers do not believe there exists an immediate danger to the community.

The Gun Violence Response Team responded to assume the investigation. Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division have also responded to assist with this investigation.

Anyone who witnessed this shooting or who possesses video surveillance footage of the shooting is asked to contact Portland Police Bureau Tactical Operations Division Gun Violence Response Team at 503-823-4106.
