UPDATE #2: Deceased Person Presumptively Identified as 89-Year-Old Missing Woman (Photo) - 09/26/18

Based on information learned during this investigation, detectives believe the deceased person located inside a Toyota Camry that was stopped by officers on Monday, September 24, 2018, in the 9200 block of Southeast Holgate Boulevard is likely 89-year-old Marcine Herinck. Ms. Herinck was reported missing last week. The Oregon State Medical Examiner has determined the victim died of homicidal violence.

This investigation began on the morning of Wednesday, September 19, 2018, when East Precinct officers responded to the report that Marcine Herinck was missing from her home in the 1500 block of Northeast 150th Avenue. The investigating officer contacted the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Missing Person Detail, which assumed the investigation.

During the initial investigation into the disappearance of Ms. Herinck, no signs of foul play were located and a search initiated. The Police Bureau requested assistance from Multnomah County Search and Rescue (SAR). During the search, investigators, family members, and volunteers searched the neighborhood near Ms. Herinck's home, as well as the grounds and ponds at Glendoveer Golf Course, located at 14015 Northeast Glisan Street.

On Monday, September 24, 2018, detectives located additional information that suggested foul play was involved in Ms. Herinck's disappearance. Once this information was learned, detectives identified 58-year-old Timothy J. Mackley as a person of interest in the investigation. During the investigation into Mackley's involvement into Ms. Herinck's disappearance, officers stopped the Toyota Camry driven by Mackley and located Ms. Herinck's body in the trunk of the vehicle.

At this time members with the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office and detectives with the Portland Police Bureau Homicide Detail continue to gather information to positively identify the deceased person located in the Toyota Camry driven by Mackley. The Police Bureau recognizes the importance of providing accurate information as well as information in a timely fashion, however, the process to identify the victim in this case has been complicated. The Bureau will provide an update once the victim has been positively identified by the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office.

The Harinck family has requested privacy at this time.

Anyone with information about the suspect or this homicide should contact Detective Erik Kammerer at 503-823-0762 or Erik.Kammerer@portlandoregon.gov
