CORRECTION: Victim Identified In Wednesday Morning Homicide Investigation (Photo) -09/06/18

Andrew P. Hathaway was 28 years old. The Police Bureau regrets this error. ###PPB### ###ORIGINAL MESSAGE BELOW### The victim located after Portland Fire and Rescue responded to a car fire in the 6200 block of North Marine on Wednesday morning has been identified as 28-year-old Andrew P. Hathaway. An autopsy was performed by a member of the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, determined Hathaway died of homicidal violence. Hathaway's body was located inside a 2003 white Chevrolet Impala that had been lit on fire. Based on information learned at this time in the investigation, detectives do not believe there is a danger to the community in relation to this homicide. This investigation is on-going and at this time there have been no arrests in relation to Hathaway's murder. Anyone who observed a 2003 white Chevrolet Impala in the area of the 6200 block of North Marine Drive on Wednesday, September 5, 2018; or has information about the murder of Hathaway should contact Detective Vince Cui at 503-823-0449, Vince.Cui@portlandoregon.gov or Detective Travis Law at 503-823-9786 or Travis.Law@portlandoregon.gov ###PPB### ###ORIGINAL MESSAGE BELOW### On Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at 1:01 a.m., Portland Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the report of a vehicle fire in the 6200 block of North Marine Drive. As firefighters battled the car fire they located what was believed to be a deceased person inside the vehicle and requested North Precinct officers respond to the scene. Members with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Homicide Detail have responded to assume this suspicious death investigation. Criminalist with the Forensic Evidence Division also responded to assist with this investigation. The Portland Police Bureau Public Information Officer will not be responding to the scene. The investigation is in its early stages and there is no additional information to provide at this time. Updates are expected to be provided as they are learned later today. Anyone with information regarding this investigation should contact the Portland Police Bureau non-emergency line at 503-823-3333.
