Traffic #ALERT:Crash Team Investigation Underway in Northeast Portland -Three Persons Seriously Injured - 08/12/18

On Sunday, August 12, 2018, at 3:47 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a single vehicle crash in the area of Northeast Columbia Boulevard and Northeast Alderwood Drive.

North Precinct officers located a vehicle that had been reported stolen. When officers attempted to approach the vehicle,the driver drove away at a high rate of speed. Officers observed the driver of the stolen vehicle sped away Eastbound on I84 from Northeast 33rd Avenue going the wrong way. Officers did not engage in a vehicle pursuit.

A short time later, another officer saw the suspect vehicle in the area of Northeast Killingsworth and I-205 Freeway going at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle crashed in the area of Northeast Columbia and Northeast Alderwood Drive.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and inside the suspect vehicle found three occupants suffering from traumatic injuries. The injured individuals were transported to a Portland area hospital by ambulance for treatment of serious life-threatening.

Preliminary investigation suggests a fourth occupant of the stolen vehicle had fled the scene before officers approached the vehicle. Officers are conducting an area search assisted by a Portland Canine Unit.

Street traffic in the area of Northeast Columbia Boulevard and Northeast Alderwood Drive and Northeast 60th Avenue will remain closed for several hours until the completion of the crash scene investigation.

This investigation is ongoing. No additional information is expected to be provided regarding this crash this evening.
