Robbery investigation on SE Powell blvd on early Wednesday morning - 07/11/18

On Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at 12:28 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a robbery and assault involving a gun at Creston Outdoor Pool, located at 4454 Southeast Powell Boulevard.

Officers arrived at the location and contacted a male juvenile victim suffering from what was believed to be a non-life threatening injury. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the location and provided medical assistance. The victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment

During the investigation officers learned the victim was by the pool with his friends when two suspects approached the group and started going through their belongings. The victim contacted the suspects and was assaulted by one of the suspects. Investigators believe the victim was injured as a result of a suspect striking him with the hard surface of a firearm. Both suspects ran off towards Southeast Powell Boulevard from Creston Outdoor Pool.

There were no reports of gunfire during this incident.

One of the suspects was described as a18 to 21-year-old Asian male, with a medium build and a goatee, wearing all black. The second suspect was described as a18 to 21-year-old black male, with a faded haircut, wearing all white clothing.

Officers and a police canine team searched the neighborhood but did not locate anyone matching the suspects' descriptions.

Criminalists with the Portland Police Bureau's Forensic Evidence Division responded to assist with the investigation.
