UPDATE #2: Police Seek Additional Information Related to July 1st Homicide on SE Harold St (Photo) - 07/11/18

Portland Police Bureau Homicide Detail detectives continue to investigate the murder of Billy R. Mayfield. Mayfield was killed at a residence in the 12200 block of Southeast Harold St on Sunday, July 1, 2018.

Detectives believe there are people in the community with information about this homicide that have not contacted police. Anyone with information about this investigation should contact Homicide Detail Detective Vince Cui at 503-823-0449 or Vince.Cui@portlandoregon.gov or contact Crime Stoppers of Oregon.

Crime Stoppers of Oregon offers cash rewards for information, reported to Crime Stoppers, that leads to an arrest in any unsolved felony crime and tipsters can remain anonymous.

Information about any unsolved homicide is eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,500. Information about any other unsolved felony crime is eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

Detectives continue to investigate a death that occurred on Sunday evening in a residence in the 12200 block of Southeast Harold Street.

The deceased victim has been identified as 37-year-old Billy R Mayfield.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office determined Mayfield died of homicidal violence.

On Sunday, July 1, 2018, at 9:20 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the reports of gunfire in the 12200 block of Southeast Harold Street.

As officers responded to the area, a resident of a location in the 12200 block of Southeast Harold Street contacted 9-1-1 and reported that a person had been shot inside the residence.

Officers arrived at the residence where the victim was reportedly located, ensured the residence was safe for emergency medical personnel to enter, rendered the victim aid and requested emergency responders enter the location. The adult male male victim was provided emergency medical aid and while being transported to an area hospital by ambulance died.

Officers have searched the area for suspects associated with this shooting and at this time no suspects have been located. No suspect descriptions are being provided to the public at this time and there is not believed to be an immediate danger to the community in relation to this shooting.

The Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Homicide Detail is responding to lead the investigation. Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division are responding to assist with the investigation. Members of the Oregon State Medical Examiner's and Multnomah County District Attorney's Offices are also responding to assist with this homicide investigation.

The Public Information Officer (PIO) will not be responding to the scene.
