Officers Negotiate Person Threatening to Jump From Fremont Bridge to Ambulance - 06/12/18

On Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at 1:10 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a man standing outside the railing of the top deck of the Fremont Bridge.

Officers responded to the location and located an adult male near the ledge of the bridge. Specially trained Enhanced Crisis Intervention Team (ECIT) Officers, assisted by members of the Portland Police Bureaus' Crisis Negotiation Team, negotiated with the man for approximately two and one-half hours. The man eventually agreed to move away from the ledge and officers assisted him to a waiting ambulance.

The man will be transported by ambulance to an area medical facility for mental health treatment.

All lanes to the Fremont Bridge have reopened.
